Bill Allen

Bill has a long association with South End Music School and though he started working for our sister company; Martin Phelps Music at the age of 16, he took his first guitar lessons at SEMS two years earlier. In the time since, he has single-mindedly pursued the goal of taking a career in music, displaying the familiar obsession with the guitar which most teachers and players exhibit, while playing in a number of bands and ensembles.
Bill commenced his musical education here at South End Music School, before attending The Institute of Modern Music in North London and The Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. Though schooled in contemporary music styles, Bill displays a broad knowledge of musical theory and practice, in a wide range of styles and genres. His open-minded and relaxed approach is evident both in his professional progress and his teaching style.
While pursuing qualifications at the aforementioned institutions, he also maintained his learning here at SEMS, allowing him to engage in musical interests outside of his academic learning. This has given him comprehensive experience in all aspects of band-related music, while also gaining a great breadth knowledge in both the technical and theoretical aspects of music and guitar playing.
Equally comfortable teaching adults and children, Bill passes his own enthusiasm for the guitar onto his students, ensuring fun and engaging learning, while giving students the guidance and support to successfully learn the instrument.
Bill teaches at South End Music School on Tuesday and Sunday. For information about this tutor’s availability or to make a booking please e-mail, or contact us on 0208 680 9747.
