Charissa Erwee

Charissa is a recent addition to our team, joining us from sunny South Africa! Charissa started singing at a very young age, performing in town halls and churches since the age of 5. She has also played and studied piano since the age of 9.
As a child and teenager, she won many awards for her musical performances in both instruments. She attended the University of the Witwatersrand Johannesburg, where she was awarded various scholarships throughout her four years of study. In 2013 she obtained an Honours degree in music, specialising in Classical Vocal Performance. During and after her University studies, she trained at the highly prestigious Eugenie Chopin Studio, often singing parts from well-known operas. Since then she has taught piano, singing, music theory and history at several schools and music centres in South Africa, as well as conducting several high-achieving choirs. Her students have always performed well in external exams, often obtaining distinctions.
Charissa is equally comfortable on-stage and in a teaching environment. She is an enthusiastic, empathetic and humorous music teacher that can cater to each student’s individual level and pace of learning. Students of all ages from as young as 5 years are welcomed with great excitement and encouraged to find a deep and lasting love for their instrument. Charissa teaches both classical and pop practical styles, and takes all aspects of musicianship seriously. Students have the opportunity to study ABRSM, Trinity Rock & Pop, or RockSchool examinations if they wish to do so.
Charissa currently teaches at South End Music School on Thursday and Saturday. For more information about this tutor’s availability or to make a booking please e-mail, or contact us on 0208 680 9747.
