Steve Dunning

With over twenty five years’ experience of performing, recording, writing and production practice in the music industry, Steve brings a wealth of professional and academic expertise to South End Music School. Having toured the world with a number of artists, he has also built an extensive library of recorded output including composing and recording for Sky Sports and other TV and Radio campaigns.
He gained the honour of ‘Best Bassist 2005-06’ while studying for his Degree in Popular Music Performance, with which he achieved a First Class Bmus. Since then Steve has gone on to complete a Masters Degree (MMus) at Thames Valley University.
As a tutor, he combines his knowledge and experience with an enthusiastic, friendly and empathetic teaching style, always tailoring his student’s lessons to their own needs and interests, while carefully ensuring progress is made at an appropriate pace. Steve also prepares students for graded examination with the Trinity and Rockschool sylabus.
Despite bass being his first instrument, Steve is equally in demand as a guitar tutor, in part due to his versatile teaching repertoire which encompasses Rock, Pop, Jazz, Blues, Soul and Funk. Equally happy to teach across a wide range of styles as he is to focus one, he is also adept at incorporating an extensive knowledge of Music Theory into his student’s practical learning, ensuring that all of these aspects are taught in an accessible and enjoyable way.
Steve teaches at South End Music School on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. For information about this tutor’s availability or to make a booking please e-mail, or contact us on 0208 680 9747.
